Introduction A selection of different kales, tried and tested in the UK climate, offering a wide culinary use. The major benefit to gardeners is providing delicious, highly nutritious greens when the weather is far too cold for other vegetables. Sow March-June. Harvest August-February. The most reliable, nutritious winter vegetable. Withstands adverse weather conditions to yield a good crop of delicious young foliage and sideshoots in winter and spring. Growing Information Sow in cell trays or small pots. Transfer to final growing position when seedlings are between 6-8 weeks old, 50cm (20″) between plants each way. Alternatively, sow from April, direct into a finely raked seedbed at a depth of 13mm (“). Transfer when large enough to handle leaving 50cm (20”) between plants each way. Water in well. Grows best on firm, deeply dug ground, liberally manured the previous autumn. Sowing ? Cropping: 24-26 weeks. Mix contains: Scarlet – 33.3%, Dwarf Green Curled – 33.3%, Black Magic – 33.3%.
